I've got around 25K miles on it now. Pretty much all as a 944SS with ported heads and 41 FCRs. No problems. Rear brakes once (caliper had seized), tires and chain & sprockets, tach cable, batteries all were replaced. Also the positive connector right at the starter motor ground out and had to be re-insulated. Mirrors are a pain and need to be replaced.
Upgrades to avoid surpirses were the cluctch slave and RR51 regulator.
Wowsers, This is fantastic!! When I saw this thread I thought I was going to be a high mileage guy with 33K on a 96 SP. I recently had a valve job and while I was in there put in high comps & rings of course. It runs very nicely with FCRs and Ohlins. Original clutch and tires.
(Just kidding about tires)
However, I know someone who owns a '96 SS (obviously pre-99). He has over 80,000 kilometers on it. That is more than 50,000 MILES folks!!
So, let the miles roll on.
Oh, and if you wonder how he did it? He is a motorcycle mechanic and Duc fanatic, out in Burnaby, BC Canada. (Yes, that's you, Doug!) He considers the secret just plain ol' regular maintenence, not magic oil etc.

I´m sorry to report that my Ducks don´t get ridden that much. They´re the ones I love the most, appreciate the most and enjoy the most but only on "selected weekends" they get out and see some light. They are the icing on my cake. Am I making any sense?
95´900SP 1,897 miles
01´748R 613 miles
On the other hand:
94 CBR 600 28,000 mi (sold)

I've got 13,629 on my '95 900cr, but I didn't have a speedo drive all winter (and even though I'm in Chicago, I still managed about 12-15 tanks of gas for the cold season).. so you may want to pad that mileage a bit
