Just pull it off. Mine was glued on. It will take a while to get all the glue off of the tank though. When you put it back on gorilla glue works great.

Yup, just pull it off. From the factory, the pad is held on with double sided automotive trim tape. Some people call it 3M tape which is a thick, very sticky, foam looking stuff... You can find it in any auto parts store that has a bodywork section. I don't think I would use glue of any kind to reinstall it though. It would have to set up, and I bet it would be hard to remove again if you had too. The 3M tape is a snap.

you can go to your nearest auto parts store and get this tool that looks like a spatula.. start at one end and take your time, glue is glue it is use to stick.. at your parts store ask for some virgin thinner, put a small amunt on a rag and it should come off, using thinner can speed up taking off the rest of the glue...

Default Floss!

I've heard people that have been using floss as a saw for removing model name badges (right word?) on cars. Might work here!

I've heard best thing to use for re-attaching is the goo they use to install car windows. Just swing by an autoglass shop and ask them to dump a little goo on your pad (doesn't sound too manly, does it?). Stick, hold and off you go.
