Default 900EI motor conversion

I've come across a deal on a 2002 900EI motor but before I make the purchase I was wondering what would be involved in converting it to run in my carbed 93SS. Right now I see two areas of concern, I believe the newer alternator is 3 phase compared to my old 2-phase unit, can I just use a 3-phase voltage regulator without any other electrical mods? Also tac appears to be an electronic drive, can I converet this back to a cable drive? Anything else I should be concerned with? If I make the purchase engine will get a 944 kit, head porting and Nichols flywheel as a minimum, Any and all information is appreciated.

Note also that the ignition timing on the Carby and FI ignition bikes are different. So, that will have to be changed/figured out as well.

I have an engine out of a 1996 900SS streetbike if you'd rather not mess with adapting the newer motor. E-mail me off-line at www.woundedduc.net
