I had exactly the same problem with my 916SPS it would miss and sometimes stop if you would take it over 6 grand and it started after I put in a different eprom from FIM so I put the original 073 chip back in and it was still doing it
So I swapped over the complete electrical system including the pickups and wiring loom from a 916SP and slowly after each ride swapped the original stuff back in
The last thing to be swapped back was the eprom so instead of swapping that back I put in a new one [073] Bikes done 55000 kms on that chip and it hasn't missed a beat
Now Ive since read somewere that sometimes a bad eprom can infect the P8 and cause problems like I had, I don't know how true that is
Good luck
