Default 1098R on eBay..

At 16k.. Bank Repo with 'S' badging. Guess the original owner attempt to play hide and seek..

Ducati : Superbike:eBay Motors (item 130343736862 end time Nov-20-09 14:34:14 PST)

This would be interesting if I could get the original panels back..

Hahhahahha, if that was the case, I would have just pointed to the "S" in the driveway when the repo-man came to get it!!

This was on ebay last week and went to $18,200 and was immediately relisted. Probably a schill bid by one of the listers buds.

Here are some things that were going through my head about this bike.

1. It does not have the carbon full system exhaust on it that is shipped with the bike. That exhaust comes with the ECU that activates the traction control. Me thinks that this bike is without traction control.

2. The S tail section does not have mounts for the traction control unit so this bike may not be equipped with the DTC tail unit OR the aforementioned ECU. The carbon tail retails for a ridiculous $5000.

3. What else is missing??

4. 16K is the most one should pay for this sketchy bike. .02

If you already own a 1098R this may be a good resource for a spare engine and some parts but if you don't you MIGHT be better off buying a whole 1098R used for the 25K I see them for all over the place. Buyer beware.

The dash display says 1098R. The front DTC sensor on the caliper mount says it's a 1098R. The TTX shock says it's a R. The triples say it's a R.

No full Termi carbon exhaust says not. No front rotor studs for the DTC sensor says not. No Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tires says not. All looking like a S bike.

It sounds like the owner truly had a S and an R bike and was trying to pull a fast one on the repo company.

The bike is an"R" I ran the VIN so as long as the VIN inthe ad is on the frame and the cases are sand cast it is good. The R came with gold wheels so it appears that the the wheels have been swapped, which means the rotors may have been swapped too in which case the TC will not work with out a rotor. Also as someone pointed out, without the race ECU no TC. with out the carbon tail (which properly mounts the TC sensor) and with out the full exhaust this bike is worth about 12-15K in my opinion. you can get a perfect low mile one with no stories that has everything working for low 20's.

+1
Someone is going to get taken. The engine does look like a sandcast R version though.

Ok he is saying they fairings were swapped out to disguise it but why are there 1098S wheels on it?? 1098R wheels are gold. he mentions nothing in the ad about the wheel change
