916 and 999 fits, I don´t see a reason why you shouldn´t be able to fit a 1098 swinger. Apart from it being ugly, bulky and too small for a proper 190 or bigger rear tyre, why not?

Default Swingarm swap

Why change? Is 1098 longer? I see they have seperate mounting points for the rod and shock. R

you would need to use the stock shcok as the 1098 shocks hits the exhaust... unless you try and fit a 1098 exhaust.... it goes on and on.

Default 1098 swingarm

think your biggest issue will be the suspension, the linkage and shock mounting is totally different, so you'll need the whole 1098 rear end essentially and even then the rocker linkage will be in a different position in the frame and may change the performance of the suspension.... really would be a massive amount of work for no real gain (especially not in looks!)

I have a buddy that fitted a 848 swinger to his 748. Sorry, no pics at the moment. It's not really my thing, but he seems to enjoy building frakenducs.

So much of the Ducati superbike range has not changed over the past 15 years in terms of measurements that i would think the fitting of the swingarm would be very easy and quite possible.... however the bike probably will not handle as well due to incorrect suspension leverage ratios and various other changes that would require a lot of time and thought to correct.

You can get the geometry set correctly so the bike handles well enough. I helped my buddy with his chassis measurments when he put a 998 swinger on his 999 (don't ask me why). The chassis points are close enough that a custom shock gets everything where it needs to be. To me, the expense and effort isn't worth it, but some folks like projects.

I'd be interested in that 748 swingarm build because I'd like to have a lighter swingarm that is longer and more rigid. Would cost less than the $3500 that the mag arms are bringing to boot. I have pretty good access to machinists and slightly scuffed Duc parts, so it's only a matter of time before I come across the needed ingredients.

Please post as much information as you can come by, or just pm me with any details you can garner from your friend.

I'm looking to do the opposite....put on a 999 arm, linkage, shock, brake and wheel on my 996 frame.

Wanna do a swap?

Well the wheelbase is about 2" longer on that model. It looks like most of it comes from the arm...that's probably too long unless you are drag racing.
