Default Upgrading 03' 999 DSSA to 05' DSSA

Would like to change my 2003 999 swing arm to the 2005 swing arm.....problem is I have a Termignoni 54mm full exhaust. I know that the Termignoni slip on will fit, but there are issues w/ the full exhaust.
I know this has been discussed before, but are there any new suggestions, anybody recently modded their 54 or 57 to fit the new swing arm? Anyone know of a motorcycle exhaust fabricator who might do this type of work? Any feedback would be appreciated!

04 57mm exhaust on 999R with SBK swingarm, does fit although it was tight.

It really depends of what system you have. The Termi 54mm system was redesigned post-'04 to fit the braced swingarm... those are the ones you see with the "oval" shaped or "flattened collector pipe. However, I have the "round" 57mm system on my R, with braced swingarm and it clears fine; tho that system was designed to fit the R.

Only way to know for sure is to mount it up, or take measurements. I think you'll likely end up with clearance issues on the collector pipe; the clearance can probably be fixed with a BFH without any penalty in power output.

I have seen the 05+ braced arm w/ the larger 57mm exhaust (round) not flattened..... fit...I mean there's nothing different, the exhaust can only be routed a certain way whether it's a cast or braced arm. The shock set up the same in each swingarm. There's a substantail relief in the bottom of the braced arm for exhaust clearance......I would hate to change the 54mm because it runs so well w/ this size exhaust and it's dedicated ECU. I haven't seen any 54mm Termignoni Flattened/oval midpipe kit, just the 57mm. A BFH The only way is to fit it up and take a chance-there's a ton of room under my cast 03' arm, but it's tight on the outside of the swingarm....thanks for your input!

Like I said, You can mock it up and see. IIRC, the 54mm tucks up closer than the 57mm. I have the round pipe 57mm on my '05R; it sticks out quite a bit. The interference will be with the collector and the braced swingarm aft of the relief. I dont think it's much, but enough that warranted a design change to the flattened collector on both the 54 and 57mm systems for 2005... I had to wait like 6 months for the updated 54mm Termi when I bought my 749 in '05. It was 54mm, and it was flattened

"slight thread hijack"
Will the 05 braced swingarm mount on the 2003 bike with no mods (assuming I use my stock slip on exhaust)?
Is it longer than the 03 arm?
Anyone done the mod?
Best place to purchase the braced arm?
TIA

Straight exchange. You missed out because a couple months ago there was a guy who wanted to trade straight across, his braced swingarm for an 03-04 grey swingarm. I didn't do it because I like the look of the earlier swingarm better.

I've heard of fitment problems with the 57mm but none with the 54mm.

Thanks. Damn, would have done that in a heartbeat! But now mine is scratched

Is there some clearance issue with the later swingarm on the fairing on the left hand side or something?
