999 cam cover stud problem-help!

While pulling my cam cover off my 999 the middle stud came out with the nut. I seperated the nut from the stud. When I tried to put it back it wont catch and screw in either left to right or right to left. It should go righty tighty because it came out easy enough when I loosened the cam cover nut.....any suggestions?

Strange, a buddy of mine had the same issue when installing magnesium valve covers. I had a similar problem, but more like stripping the stud on the install after I did a valve clearance check. In my case, instead of doing a tap I simply switched studs and they both went in without a problem.

Run a tap in the hole, probably just a little burr keeping it from starting. also check the threads on the end of the stud for damage. (could possibly happen when you removed the nut)
