Mounted.
I tried it briefly down the street and was able to pick up a couple of "laps"...but the true test will come tomorrow.
Question?- Anyone who has used the IR version or stock (starter button) version of the lap timer...we're you able to review the laps as stated in the owners manual? I couldn't get that to work....but maybe I was doing something wrong!!

I have done it numerous times. I can't be sure of the precise procedure right now, but what I do is this:

Turn ignition off, keep the button on the dash pressed (this is what I don't remember if it is the left or the right button), while keeping it pressed, turn the ignition on. Now you should be at the "lap time" mode on the dash and you will be seeing your lap times on the lower left and also for each lap you will see the max rpm and max speed too.

Try both buttons and see which one does it. SOrry for not being able to remember

So, have fun tomorrow and looking forward to your input.

Doc

Thanks Multi for the info, wish I had read that before I went to the track yesterday. I tried everything to retrieve my lap times./....... .You'd think that would be stated in the manual!!! all it says is to retreive the lap times to hit the left button, but all that did was toggle through the odometer, trip, lap timer!!
I'll try you method and see if I have any times stored??? Because without the ability to store at least 19 laps and retrive them latter, the laptimer function is of little use. I was able to see the laptimes while on the track and it did display the last lap as I came into the pits, but all disappeared after I shut the bike off.
So, I guess that's the bad part of the story--(only if I can't learn how to do it)...BUT...the good part is it WORKS!!! and I checked the lap times against another timer I was using and the times were acurate.

Can anyone else with a 999 or 749 confirm the procedure for retreiving times???

Crimson- can you confirm the procedure for retreving the lap times?? Anything in writing anywhere?? I won't be able to check until tomorrow.
BTW---as Crimson has stated--it's important than you toggle through to the "lap time" function on the dash before heading out to the track (after the bike is started) because you can't start the bike in this mode, and if you forget, you won't pick up any laps!!
Overall, once you get the hang of using it...(and if I could get the stored laps)...it works well

Hey Doc,
The service manual confirms your directions---it's the RH (right hand button) to bring up the stored laps and LH button to scroll through. Although I had no stored laps because I assume I erased them by holding down the RH button for at least 5 secs while playing around at the track!!
The manual also explains about the plug for using the IR pickup to record laps...(although the Italian to English translation makes it difficult to understand!)
I'll report back after my next day on the 24th unless I have time to ride it on the street before then.
Thanks for all the help,
Streve

Does the DDA software do lap times as well?

Does it show laps in data/or export .txt data?

can anyone confirm to me that the ducati dda setup for the laptimer sends a 5v trigger pulse? Especially the Starlane ducati gps trigger. It would be very helpful to know before picking up one of these units, as i'm looking for a laptimer solution for a HRC Datalogger, which uses a 12V powersource and 5v trigger.

Don't know for sure, but if you look back through these posts you'll see where I posted the wire "markings" from my service manual. Best to ask Starlane, although they don't list this unit on their site...maybe they can build one for your HRC setup???
Good luck,
Let us know how you make out.
