Default uses for used timing belts

I use mine to hold down the front wheel seeing as I don't have a bench vice, so I can jack up the rear wheel and grease the bearings(47000kms). Alone with 2 tie down straps to hold the bike upright. Just can't bring myself to throw these things away. Anyone else this crazy about thier old parts?

I have a used one in the bedroom, since my GF always says "Its all about timing", so i figured that was what she was talking about..

Is that weird?

Just make sure you replace it according to schedule, you wouldn't want to bust a valve....

I've seen them used to hold the cam pulleys on the vertical cylinder while installing new belts. Made from a piece of plywood with the old belt section glued to it , similar to the billet holding tools as sold on ebay only made of wood.

HOLDING THE PULLEY

I use these curved jaw Vise Grip pliers with an old belt to hold the pulley while removing the nut with an 1/2" drive impact gun. The excess portion of the belt is wrapped under the handle of the pliers against the frame rail for support.

I still remember Rigor's use for a helmet strap extender from the RC51 tool kit: tree support.

There ya go...

All the Ducati knockers and naysayers could never be this imaginative or industrious.

Rule no 1, never ever throw a used part in the bin
When least expected it'll be just what youre looking for.
