Default 749 to 924

Is it really just switching to 999 cyclenders & pistons on a 749 motor? I have a 04 749 laying down a wooping 100 rwhp at 56 ft tq.......but was told that going to a 924 can up the power by 20+ hp's by just slapping 999 cyclenders & pistons on the stock 749? I already have a full 54mm Termi & ecu.......

I think Brad did that..
BikeBoy.org - 749* With 924 Big Bore Kit (base model 749 engine)
"The graph shows the bike all std in green, with Termi asymmetric kit in red and with the 924 kit and DP 999 kit ECU in blue. For reference the pink curve is a ’03 999 with DP asymmetric kit"

I have a base 749 that's gone to a 924 /w the Pistals, Carillos, and a fox balanced/lightened/polished/knife-edged crank.

I think I'm getting 120-ish from it.... Hord would know as he was the last one to dyno it....

I dont know the 749 but if you are doing the same with a desmo quattro engine you need different pistons as the wrist pins needs to be lower down in the piston to compensate for the shorter storke. If not you will get very low compression.

In stock, we have sold over 30 kits. Like vij said, special pistons are needed, this is a drop in kit, no rods or crank work needed, carrillos are lighter but stock rods are stronger. You will need a PCIIIusb to add more fuel.

the one i did i modified the chambers at bruce meyer's direction - mainly removed the step between inlet and exhaust valve at the sides of the chamber. there's photos in that report. plus we narrowed the valve seats a bit with a 60 or 70 degree cutter into the port.

i have a set of pistal 924 pistons lying around that i will sell CHEAP! I'll even include a gasket kit, with the 999 head gaskets. All you will need are some 999 cylinders!
