Default Rocker Source

At 6K miles I had 6 out of the 8 Rockers replaced due to Chrome Chipping. This was in 2006. At the dealer with OEM Ducati Rockers

Now at 12k at least 4 are bad enough that you can either see the chrome chipping again or have a groove that is easily felt by a fingernail and the other 4 a signifigant worn patch.

What are Choices for Aftermarket rockers?

Check with the DucShop for alternative coatings.

Default Rockers

I took a close hard look at all the Rockers and I am sending them all off to MBP to get replated etc.

This includes the 6 that were replaced two years ago. The two that are original with 12,000 miles on then look the best of all. One was on the vertical cylinder and one was on the horizontal. No Rhyme or Reason.

We will see if MBP does any better than OEM Ducati. Same price at the end of the day.

david newman cams in the uk stick some special coated pads into the rockers and apparently they last forever. I would go with them .

Default Rockers

I looked at the price difference between the MBP and the Megacycle which was approx $300. And the fact that I will be taking it apart again in two years to do the same thing. Decided to go with the cheaper. I have heard that the MBP flake. But the 16th Revision of the OEM Ducati was not supposed to flake either which is what was put in 2 years ago. After I put in my order I read about the new revision from Ducati which replicates the 1098 but how to make sure you get the right part.

Or you look at the Rockers as a wear item and just replace them every 6K miles.

Nice one Chris,
I've just got off the phone after talking with David and it sounds pretty good.
He claims to have been doing them for many years without ever having any comebacks.
The price's waaay better than any of the other options as well.

Depending on how many needed doing the price was between £25-30 each.
To Joe Public trade prices should be lower.
I'll send him a couple after the Isle Of Man TT next month and have a good look at them/show them to some engineers.
Before deciding wether to give him the HUGE bag of shot rockers I've amassed over the years...
Not all from my motors I hasten to add!
I own at least 6 sets of Desmoquatro heads in differing states of tune, for my own bikes 2 X's 851/888's.

Default Cost Savings

At todays exchange rate it is approx $8.6 per rocker less. Minus shipping which is not that much to England and back.

Hopefully it is fully developed and I can use them in 2011 for the next tear down.
