Default Can Bearing Seized

While tearing down by 1998 748 I had problems removing one of my cams. Upon inspection the Bearing # 24 in this picture had seized on to the cam slightly. A new bearing is easy enough.

What are the procedures for inspecting the area of the cam where the bearing seized on the shaft?

Just clean it up with some emery cloth and make sure the new bearing inner race slides easily over the camshaft to it resting position. The spacer can be tough to remove even without the bearing seizing. It takes a lot to bugger a cam from a bearing going bad. Also check and flush for metal particles in the cam's oil passage ways if the bearing went south altogether.

the cam is tightened to this bearing, and there's no need to ever remove the bearing from the cam unless you're changing the cam or bearing. it's of no consequence if the cam sticks inside the bearing in normal use.
