Default PClll wiring and Innovate LM-2 ???

I am quickly trying to hook up an Innovate LM-2 to my 748 and get some data to tune my PClll (during a track day this weekend and of course I have other things to finish too!!)

Is it possible to get my TPS signals and RPM from the PClll harness? If so what wires? I searched here already and on the net a while back and didn't find anything really useful.

Thanks!!

Mike

Not sure about the LM-2, I have used the LM-1 though since 05 and I take the TPS from the ecu harness pin 16 and 30 and the rpm from an inductive clamp on the spark wire. Mr Black has a very good explanation how to connect to the ecu harness BikeBoy.org - Weber Marelli Throttle Position Sensor Setting Notes and Procedures

Then I display the data in logworks in a table that matches the pcIII and then use a spread sheet to calculate the new map and just cut and paste from the spread sheet into pcIII software, then log some more, repeat until happy. Poor mans closed loop

It will never be optimum but takes you in the ballpark very quick.

Thanks for the info and help Tom

I have an LM-1 here for a car project. The LM-2 is a new stand alone AFR meter and 32 channel datalogger. It can directly log 2 wideband O2 sensors (if you get that higher model, more $$ of course) and record directly to an SD card. Afterward I can use logworks.

LM1 is a bit messy with wiring, I use two LC1 to be able to log both cylinders, however the new one seems almost too easy to setup, hehe.

Well its just a way to aquire the data, if you like the spreadsheet just shoot me a pm with your addy.

A little intrested in the subject myself..........

The powercommander does not connect to the RPM.
It uses injector pulses as the RPM. probably trigering on the rising edge.

I'm intrested as I'm going to interfase to the TPS signal.
(Know you can get it from the ECU connector, but I need to interface the other signal to).

TO Lazy to go out to the garage and check the harness.

Does anyone have the pinout for the "Throttleboddy connector".

and conector type (need a male and female to make an interface plug)

(for the 748R 16M)
Signal GND
5 V ref
TPS readout
Injector power supply.
Injector 1
Injector 2

(for the 996SPS P8)
Signal GND
5 V ref
TPS readout
Injector power supply.
Injector 1
Injector 2
Injector 4
Injector 4

Two sources that I know of is the spark wire or the coil feed. On all ducati bikes you can get the rpm from either the spark wire or the feeding of the coil, that is the brown wire, the latter is the stable way I know, there may be other like demontech says yes.

RPM signal the powercommander for the 748/996 uses the pulses to the injector.

The only connection point is the Throttlebody connector
(Round millspec plug).
This plug contains the signals (look previos).
At least for the powercommander this is the signals beeing used, Dont know if it uses the signal from one or two injectors.
the signal to the injetors is probaby 12V when open.
(and should look like a square wave).

The best place to take the RPM is from the ECU---to Tacho signal
I use this signal for my AIM DASH, it gives 2 pulses per revolution of the engine, so the software in the dash is set up with a "/2", for right RPM
(Do not know the volt level for this signal, but the Aim dash/logger has a vide voltage spec).

The RPM signal can be taken from the ECU plug, or the tacho cluster.

Have always wrapped a wire around the coil lead [brown wire as Tom said] and fed it back to the rpm converter. Worked perfectly w/no problems. I used simple "bell wire" soild, like used to feed a 12v transformer or household thermostat....just happened to be handy.

Anyway, Innovate has/had a program to trade your LM-1 in for new LM-2 at a reasonable discount off list. I took advantage of it, but you should contact them to see if the offer is still available.

So I've been trying to do some tuning and I really want to get the RPM's to work. I've just used TPS in the past. Do you have to buy the RPM converter box from innovate to get it to work? I can't seem to find where I can program the formula into a signal, or where I can find the signal data to export to a different program(such as excel) to program. Any help with this would be appreciated!

I haven't set it up completely yet but I will let you know how it works out.
