Default JE Pistons

Does any one have any experience of JE pistons? I Need some new piston rings to my Omega 955 pistons but it is just to expensive. JE pistons you can get very cheap. Pistons including rings are much cheaper as they are on sale. I guess that they have a big stock and no demand for 955 things today. Are they bad? Any one have any experience?

Jocke........

I think the concensus is that the JE are not up to the standard of the Omega or Pistal.

my engine tuner says the same. He told me to forget about JE, Wiseco and such.

How much do they charge for a set?
How about Pistal? Too expensive or no stock?

Not sure what you're using them for (street vs track) however my experience with JE a few years ago was stellar. Put a hi-comp set in a 900SS and had zero issues for 25,000 km until I sold the bike.

The je pistons as such are good , but the off the shelf ones for the ducatis could be improved. The 900ss je pistons i use all the time. Some others i found had not much of a compression gain , pockets cut too deep and too wide, small end spacing to wide so they cant be used with the 20.60 small end rods without making spacers.

Its not the piston brand thats the problem just the design details. An example my friend has a 600hp turbo zx10 engine that uses JE pistons and they take some abuse for sure.

Your best bet is to find a good piston wich has good measurements from the start and get some made. Or design the piston yourself.
