Default 996sps with valve springs

this years build is starting to come together, conversion to spring closing mechanism is the biggest change, no more problem custom grinding cams for it.

This is so wrong I'm not even going there!

Now go and post this on Ducati MS and see what kind of mileage you can get out of it.....

Looks perfect, you should get about 6mm lift until the springs bottom out. That should really up the performance. I'm going to have to do that to my bike!!!

You'll get a 36 page thread on which is the best oil to use with the valve springs. And one post asking if they can be had in carbon fiber.

I know that this has been a 1st of April wind up but...
In Europe the BEARS racing (British,European and American Racing Series) reg's didn't allow 4V's+Desmo+watercooled+fuel injection, you could have 3 of the 4 but not all 4.
So a successfull Ducati racing outfit over here in the UK, Baines racing had a Desmoquatro motor modified to valve spring operation and finished either 1st or 2nd in the Europe wide Championships.
So there really was a Valve spring 4V watercooled Duke/Duc Racing successfully over this side of the pond...
I think that it was called the 'Mezmoquatro'?

Here's a link to the guy responsible for the head work, he's sadly now no longer with us.

MEZ PORTING HOME PAGE

Mr Mansfield ported quite a few of my heads over the years, he also ported the 'Sports Racing' Ducati's which were raced by S.M.B.Hailwood amongst others.
In fact most of the UK's top Ducati tuners used George's expertise, although they usually passed his work off as their own...

There are two stories to this picture.
One is that its a good idea to do like this when checking for space with new pistons, once youre at the tight spot just push down to get clearance, second the desmo system aint as good as the reputy and wed sure like to do that cursing but power is power, like lil says.

Obviously needing something different for springs yes, and on 996 its not practical but on evos it is!
