i have a 1996 original monoposto (with 1.6 ECU and 2-wire charging system)that runs great w/ the OE EPROM chip. but, i have an Arrow half system and would like to get the most out of it by adding a performance EPROM.
thus far i've tried two different aftermarket EPROMs , both of which have not worked at all (the fuel pump doesnt even cycle, hence, bike will not run).
the first was an Arrow EPROM, model# 11004ME.
the second one had a Gianelli sticker over the Arrow sticker; part number 19004EP.
the Arrow application says 94-95 916; the Gianelli says 94-97 916.
im wondering why they dont work (yes, i've installed them in proper clocking orientation), and which other unit i should try. Gotham has a Ducati Performance chip (model# 08054/3) that appears to fit my application.
any input on why the Arrow / Gianelli doesnt work, and IF the D.P. one would work... and/or suggestions on which unit to try next?
the chip that Gotham has for sale (the one i think i want to try next) is the 08054/3 model. far as i can tell from below, that model# is designed for 916's with a half system, but there is no distinction between model years ??
Just to clarify ... you're using the NOTCH on the side of the chip to establish the correct orientation, and just not using the label on the chip. Correct?
The eproms are for P8.
Can't speak for anybody else, but I would be very clear on what bikes the eproms will work on to avoid this situation, implying the seller have little clue what the difference is, or possibly someone knows but it's not the same guy writing the list.
The chance the slipon eproms are original richened slightly is high and they wont do anything other than drain your wallet. Original 916 eprom is very good so my advice is to invest the money in basic settings and it should be fine. Boring answer when you are inspired I know.
