Default 996/998/S4R TPS - need some general advice!!!

I'm just about to finish my "998S engine in 996 chassis - conversion". Yesterday I even started it for the first time!!

But it has been with my mate's 999 TB's with 998 TPS mounted.
I just borrowed them and now I need my own.

Some time ago I bought some stuff on ebay, witch I thought I can use: a Monster S4R wire harness (because I got my mate's 998 harness with broken ECU-connectors after his Brno crash and took this S4R connectors as a swap), the Air-pressure/temp sensor (wich visually looked like the 998 one and obviously also is) and a pair of S4R TB's, because I thought they have the 998 TPS.
Now, when I got this S4R TB's I realized they have (visually) the old, bigger, "996-style" TPS.
And here my misunderstandig starts: my mate once borrowed his 998 ECU to another guy who did ran his S4R with it, without problems. But as I heard the 998 TPS is different from the 996's....how did this work???
Or does the S4R TPS just LOOKS like a 996 one, but has the resistor and curve like a 998?? Or is all this info crap and all "pre-999" tps' are the same (from it's resistor and curve)??
I did understood, that 999 tps are linear, the one's before not!! But wich one of the ones before are equal??
Can I use the S4R TPS?? Does anybody know??

ANY advice is appriciated.

Thanx in advance,

greetz,

Dali!!

afaik, all non linear - big red, big black or small black - are functionally the same.

998 has very different injector flow rate to s4r, 996, etc tho.

@ Tom: THX for the answer, it's enough for me!! ;-)

@ Brad: Also THX. Injector flow rate?? But this is something related to the Injectors I assume?? I use stock 999 TB's so I should have the same as a 998, right??

Thanks again guys, you helped me a lot!!!
Wow...the two both competent guys on that issue, immediately on the line....could'nt be bettter!!

Sorry to bug you guys again, but what about the Monster S2R TPS?? It looks visually just like the 998 one but this bike, I can get it from, is Model year 07!!!
Is it the "non linear" one, like 996/998??
Does anybody know?? Tom, Brad..please??

THX in advance!!!

Default Tps

Hi,

The 998 TPS ( 284.4.002.1A ) is also used on the 748R, Monster and some of the SS

Good luck

( I'm using 999TB with 998 TPS on the trackbike)
