Default oil filter leaking

Hey,
My effing oil filter started leaking and I tried tightening it to no effect. Can I remove the filter without the oil all draining out? I just changed my oil and I really dont want to drain it twice. Any help would be nice.
THanks
Blake

No you canŽt.

If you could, IŽd be worried

If the oil is new, drain it into a clean pan and reuse it.

Absolutely!!! Turn the bike upside down! There is always a solution to the problem. Let me know how that goes.

PS. For a better approach try to loosen up the filter, sometimes they get a "wrinkle" in the seal, you can then either retighten or leave it if its tight still.

You won't loose all the oil just about 1qt maybe a bit more. Did you check the old filter to make sure the seal did not stick to the engine? Just change the filter and replace the lost amount of oil.

You've probably solved this problem by now, so was it actually the oil filter or was it leaking from the steel braided oil cooler lines right where they connect to the engine block, and then running down and falling off of the oil filter?
