Default 848 Test Mule

For those of you that don't know it I am in the process of developing a couple 848's from bone stock all the way to about what Larry Pegram has been using for suspension and linkages etc...

Luckily I have access to 2 bikes one already built with the full Ohlins compliment and one to do a piece at a time to compare each individual mod.

The web page has just come online and the mods list is totally inaccurate, but will be fixed soon and I just completed my first real ride on the bone stock model last Sunday and I love it! Previously I had spent 3 days on the track with a 1098 and it was a lot of work whereas this 848 is a FRIGGIN BLAST. Just plain fun and I cannot wait to start the development process. Keep in mind I am doing this as a perspective of trackday and weekend riders moreso than pure outright racing purposes, but I am sure a lot of the info will crossover.

details here ROGUE RACING Ducati 848 page

Will you now be changing your name to LLD (Lord Love a Duck) or possibly LDL (Lord Duck Lover)?

LOL Nope due to the longevity of my online moniker I think I will just keep it... besides I tried to change it to something less denominational about 4 years ago like Squidshady, but no matter where I went everybody called me LDH anyway so why fight it.

And for the record I still think, no scratch that, I KNOW that many Duc owners specifically are ostentatious poser pricks with no real love or appreciation for the sport as it is all reserved for their bikes and ego's. It kills me to see these guys come in with a 1098S model and demand to replace their OEM Ohlins shock with a brand new TTX model when they literally have 2" pussy stripes on their rear tire. One guy actually had a flat spot like a truck tire, but continued to ramble on & on about how much riding he did and how he needed the advantage this new shock was going to give him

On the other hand I have met some Duc owners out here that have a much more realistic view of Ducati ownership that also happen to be fantastic riders. There were two at Thunderhill a few weeks ago that I just could not get enough of. Their knowledge and riding ability had my brain on overload and I learned alot from them.

At any rate while my steeds have become varied over the years my principles remain the same. The real gratification comes from riding the bike not just using it as jewelry

No, I agree that LDH should stay. After all it could now be Lord Duck Humper.

JK, Mike. Looking forward to seeing more updates on the 848s.

I think that was and always will be the case and not just with Ducati owners. Still, your present view is many miles from where you were years ago when you expressed the opinion that Ducatis had no redeemable virtues whatsoever. Love really seems to agree with you, LDH. Enjoy the cool bikes and congratulations on what I hope will be a lifetime of marital bliss and happiness.
