Default 2005 749 battery question

My 05 749 Battery died yesterday. Battery lasted for 3 years. No prob as I had one on the shelf. I did notice before it died, my dash read the voltage at 9.9. I installed the new one this morning, she started right up but I noticed that my dash is reading a voltaqge of 11.7 or 11.8.
Should I be concerned? At4 optimum, she reads a 12 something.
Is this signal of another issue?

Default Battery Voltage

At idle you'll see voltages somewhat less than 12 volts but as you rev the engine the voltage should rise until it reaches around 13.5 - 14 volts. If not, your voltage regulator or (more likely) the wires from the stator to the regulator need replacement.

What brand is the battery?
"no brand" batteries are always wacky, weak and not reliable.
If you bought a "X" batterie, that could be the reason. Unfortunately, especially in battery world, you get what you paid for.
Whatever is the batterie, check the 3 yellow wires from rectifier to alternator. The connector that ducati puts to link alternator to rectifier is a PIECE OF S..T: it likes to corrode, then boil and to conclude it melts.
If yours is down, go to this link and see how Oldfart (Oldfart ROCKS!) saved my Rectifier/Batterie/Bike/Bucks.
Alternator/recifier yellow wire BURNT

Even if your yellow wiring is OK, have in mind to do that. It's EASY, QUICK, NOT EXPENSIVE.

If the issue is only batterie related, try to charge it with an optimate. If the batterie is out, go for a YUASA YT12BBS or PRESIDENT GT12B4.
