I bought two, wired them in series, and got 30 hp.

Your results may vary....

If anyone has bought one of these, please send me your address so I can come to your house and beat you over the head with a tuning manual.

WOW! Its street legal too! That's a relief. How can such a proven piece of equipment be available to just anyone? It was in the 2004 Stocking Stuffer edition of Max Power magazine so it must be good. How this has been under wraps for so long is crazy.

Default More Hp

Does this work in conjunction with Yellow Paint?

Will I be able to get over 200MPH with my 748 with half system and polished wheels?

only if you have some kind of neon lighting....its crucial to achieving light speed

From the ebay ad:
How does it work?
It will modify any standard ECU by telling the ECU that the incoming air in the intake system is cold and so advances the ignition to compensate producing more power. In many cases fuel economy is increased too. Power is increased by up to 15BHP and torque is increased significantly.
It will be more responsive and you WILL LIKE IT.

I just have to say some thing as one of my friends has this in his cars.

He has a Bora TDI 150 hp and a A3 TDI 130 hp.

One day I was driving his bora. I have been driving his car many time and I felt that suddenly it actualy went much better then before.

I told him that the car goes better then everand asked if he did some thing as he likes to play with his toys. He did not tell me before so I did not know about this thing.

Then he explained that he installed this magic thing and it looks like it actualy works on volkswagen TDI engines. It is also using less fuel too.

It looks like the fuel management in this Volkswagen TDI:s are not very perfect and it does actually work.

I have no idea what this will make to the life time and if it makes anything bad but it does actually works on Audi/VW TDI:S.

15hp plus I dont know but it is for sure running better.

Jocke......

Theoretically it can "work". This particular mod can be done by anyone with half a brain, a wiring diagram, and a Radioshack resistor. You use the resistor to bypass the intake air temperature sensor to fool the ecu into thinking the ambient air cooler than it actually is, and that messes with the fuel mix and the ignition timing on a injection system that is capable of modifying fueling parameters on the fly (most modern cars). It's a cheesy backyard tuner method, and it's been exploited for money making purposes by packaging a 10 cent resistor with some wiring and connectors in a box to sell for ridiculous markup.

This is pretty much worthless on most bikes, most of the time you will just end up with the bike leaving the automatic choke partly on so you get a slightly richer fuel mix. Might feel stronger in the midrange but it will just bog at WOT and it will not increase power. That's assuming the bike has an intake air temperature sensor in the first place - I've seen these kits sold for carburetted vehicles!

On old EFI Ducatis this is not going to help - when they are setup according to factory recommendations, they run rich under normal conditions (the factory manual gives two tuning outlines - one for emissions laws [very lean], and one for optimum performance [very rich]. Guess which one you want to use).

Bottom line - it won't do what they claim, it's incredibly overpriced for something you can do yourself for less than 5$, and it's a poor and slipshod approach to tuning.

I fully agree. It will not work on a normal injected petrol engine.

On a turbo diesel it might give improvment if it is tested and developed properly but you will for sure get better result by doing a proper mapping of the ECU. After all you are only manipulating the ECU to do some thing that it is not programed for.

The extra power you might get on a TDI is just a result due to that the fuel management sysyetem is programed to follow enviromantal regulations.

The improved power by adding a resistor on a TDI is most probable due to the fact that the ECU allowes more boost pressure from the turbo.

When i worked for vauxhall many moons ago they were using a similar mod also with a resistor on the air temp input wire to retard the ignition timing to stop the 8v sri/gte from pinking underhard throttle. At the time my mate had a sri and we removed it. A little while later the piston blew out the block on the motorway
