Chris,
Contact U.S. Seal @ 1-800-777-6974 and talk to John Murphy. Web address is Valveseal.com . You'll be glad you did.

Chris,
I use BMW car valve guide seals, they're exactly the same and cost about £1.50p each retail.
I also shortened some Renault valve guides in Bronze?? they were a lot cheaper than Ducati ones.

Sweet , we all know what 4v stem seals fit what and where to source them.

Question 2 . Is there any better stem seals for the older 2v bikes ?

Default valve stem oil seals

Picked up Goetze valve stem seals, exact Ducati match from WorldPac parts supplier @ $1.07 each.
Application from: 1996 Audi A6 V6 2.8L-12V

Hi Brad,
I'm Mr R from the 851/888 forums.
I bought the BMW seals from a local car/bike cylinder head tuner, he had a huge plastic bag of them and said "They're £1.50 each to you Steve"...
They were the exact same part as the Desmoquatro items.
I'll try and get the part number for you and the lads.
I'll do my best but you'll know how people in the trade guard their sources...

I went down to a Mercedes dealer and asked around in the parts dept. They had some 7mm stem seals in stock and work great.

Sorry for the slow reply Chris. They were for my 748. I dug around in all my info and pics this past weekend and I am pretty upset with myself. I found no record of what I bought. Man, what was I thinking

Hello,
This is my first post here. I have got a ST4s with a 996 engine.

Well, I had this same problem with more than one (VW seals), the last time I rebuilt the heads. Is there needed any type of glue before putting them in the guides? May be they were not clean enough?

Thanks

I think they are a press fit. I used a socket around the outside dia. to push it on...but in use, it comes off!!!

Seemshat there are no aftermarket valve seals for the old 2v heads. However i have a set of 900ss heads here today and they are not original ducati items. Just need to find out what they are

bummer
