The instrument panel displays a series of error codes regarding the injection system and immobilizer. The EF 1 error symbol appears, and in the bottom RH cornor, the error code itself. If more than one error is present, the display will alternate between them every 3 seconds. What is the error code displayed? I'll look it up for you.

Like Niel said you have to check the code that's displayed.

Here's the list of the error codes

I would love to give you the code, but when I turn the ignition on, this is the only message that I get. THe screen on the right hand side is completely blank.
The only two factors that I can think of are:
1) I have a new dash set (black key only) with the original ecu
2) I am missing the air temperature sensor (in the headlight pod)

In the meantime I have ordered a new ECU and temp sensor. I hope this works...

update:

In the end I didn`t get the new ECU because the ebay seller had 'issues'.

The Air temperature sensor has been installed, everything is in place and connected, but all I get when I check the error codes is EF1 and nothing.

I tried unplugging a few other wires just to see what would happen and I received errors such as EF1 19.2, 3.1, 34.0, 18.2, but when they were all reconnected it was back to the EF1 nothing.

As it stands the bike doesn`t start or turn over. It doesnt help that the temperature is well below freezing.

I was wondering if it is worth digging around deeper into the wiring ie around the injectors etc, should I replace the ECU?

Any advice will be appreciated, since I am going crazy here.

thanks

I assume that you've tried disconnecting then reconnecting the dash?

I also assume that you've also tried disconnecting then reconnecting the battery?

Sorry I can't be of more help, but tell me...when you got the 34.0 error code, do you remember what you had disconnected?...as I have had this code in the past and never worked out why. I sort of came to the conclusion that the air pressure sensor (built into the circuit board in the dash) was the cause and a new dash was fitted. The 34.0 error has appeared again once though with the new dash.

I have tried disconnecting everything from the battery to the dash, sorry I don`t remember what I did to get the error 34.0, possible it was when I disconnected the ECU....

Maybe a stupid question with an obvious answer, but do the error codes disappear when the error is fixed?
