Default Tech Question - Filter Box Screws

Hey all, I'm trying to get the plastic air filter boxes apart on my '01 748S. Most of the screws that hold the two pieces together won't budge. Before I stip one of them, can anyone recommend a way to get those screws out? Heat? I've tried WD-40 to no avail. I'd rather not have to use my extractor, but will if that's the only way.

Thanks...

Get a power/drill driver. Put it on low speed and back them out. Use a brand new phillips bit.

Put them in freezer for a half hour.

Default Air runners

The guys that hold the runners together are rubber well nuts and the screws. They have a rubber body with a brass nut molded into them. I just replaced all of mine. The freezer idea sounds good with the use of the power driver.

Thanks for the suggestions. Looking at a schematic of the air induction system and it appears that there are little clips on the filter boxes that snap onto the air box. Can I just "pop" them off. In case it's not apparent, I have a long history of snapping off plastic bits and am trying not to repeat past mistakes.

On the 748/916/996/998 there are no well nuts on the air runners. Just fairly long screws which go directly into the inner halfs of the plastic air runners.

The well nuts must be for a different type of air runner. All of the stock ones I've seen are regular screws that just screw into the inner plastic half of the runner.

The rubber well nuts were used on early 95-916's, mine originally had them as well. Later years were replaced with screws only.
