any indications or speculation as to how much of a price drop the 749 or 999 series will incur from the realease of the 1098?

If I had to guess, you'll be stuck with whatever the dealer is willing to let one go for. I know that when I was looking in April, I was able to wrangle a better deal on an '05 at one dealer than I was able to get for a leftover '04 at a different dealer.

Has the 1098 obviated the XX9's ? At ducati.com, there is only the 1098 listed under "superbikes".

What's a 999?
