Default 996R exhaust - best option?

Hi there,

IŽd like to know what you think is the best exhaust option for the 996R.

I heard there are quite some products from different manufacturers, but not all are worth the money.

I hear the Termi is good as usual. So is the Sil Motor, but it is supposed to be a pain in the arse to install due to bad fitment.

How about diameters? I heard from my mechanic that bigger is better. 54,57, even 60mm. What do you reckon?

I am using the bike track only, so everything that performs well is an option.

Thanks!

We have a Tubi/HPE titanium -inconel 54mm system for the 996R /998R that has a small blem on the titanium can from shipping that we can make you a great deal.

We also have a rare Termignoni 50/54mm half system in stock that fits anything with a 50mm head pipe--which your 996R has...

the Akro is one of if not the best produced full system for your bike for the money and performance. fully tapered 45/60mm system with reverse tapered core cans. the only thing close to this level of construction is a full on Corse Termi system which will run you $5K or so if you can get someone to sell you a used one off an ex race bike. You can get the Akro for under $2K I believe. Termi stuff is overweight, over priced, and under performing compared to this product.

As Bruce would say... the 3 P's...Pistons, Ports, and Pipe. I've got 60mm Termi's with Pistal HC pistons and porting by Bruce, along with custom FIM and Pipercross air filter. Added about 21 rwhp over stock, plus got torque over 80 ft/lbs.

And the bike sounds awesome!

Depends so much on what you are doing with the bike, really.....

The best results I ever had with 998 "S'" or 996 "R" engines was with the full 57mm Termignoni system, .9mm squish, VERY carefully set up cam-timing, with the cams slightly advanced, DT-1 air-filter, Elf race fuel and the Ducati Corse "Superstock" ignition box.

Rhhhaaa, lovely !!!!

Why is the 45/60 full system better than the other full systems? ArenŽt the other systems 60mm everywhere (even at the cylinders)? Or are all full systems starting at 45mm at the cylinder outlet and then go bigger?

I actually just want to get that thing on the track and slap on the best working exhaust for it. No engine mods as of now.

Get the Termi 50/54 from Motowheels if you are not planning on going nuts with the motor.

Because unless you are making over 170hp the exhaust is too big

Don't mean to hijack the thread but which system is considered the better one if you're planning on tuning a 996R or 998R (in my case) to about 170-175hp (measured at the crank, that is)?

I've heard good things about the MotoCorse 60.5mm system but then again, it's awfully expensive

Are there any good, cheaper alternatives?

I was thinking about putting my 998R back together a few weeks back. I was looking at about 160hp and was going to go with the Akropvoic (sp). They are about $2000 on the LP Privateer racer program.

Thanks, Jason.

Are they still being produced or will I have to look for a used system?

Where do you recommend I start looking (preferably for a new system)?
