Default Desmosedici RR vs. Traction Control

Ducati's web site claims this bike will produce more than 200 hp (I assume that is measured at the crank) with the optional exhaust, etc.

I don't believe that the RR is sold with traction control. Ducati's GP bikes have it...but I'm not sure when they first started using it. I understand that many RR owners may not push this bike hard enough to need TC but...

Should the RR have been offered with TC...perhaps as an option?

Your thoughts...

I did her Ducati could hook you up with training wheels if you need them...

Plus you can install a TC unit in your bike for around 1000 bucks. If you good at writing code, you can program your ECU for TC.

This is the templet Im using for the rc. Im thinking either using the indo-china RC-51 ECU since it is blank version(Thanks Cutaway) or getting my current ECU flashed blank and reprograming it.

while ( rearwheel_speed > frontwheel_speed) {
set engine_rpm = 8500;
set fuelinjector_fuel_amt = 0;
}

Interesting replys...but I was actually asking a serious question.

I asked the question because the RR will be one of the most powerful production motorcycles offered to the general (albeit rich) public. My guess is that Ducati may have discussed offering TC for the RR, but decided not to because of added cost and/or potential reverse engineering by competitors.

FWIW, I have heard a rumor that TC might be equipped to the 2008 Yamaha R1...but it is only a rumor.

And i gave a serious answer...If you want it, put it on. If I want to spin the rear wheel on my expensive ass bike I will. To much big brother sh!t for me. Leave TC off unless I want it.

Just some questions and thoughts based on your points.......

What about if it came with traction control and also selectable/programmable maps so you could determine at what point it came on? Or like a factory option like ABS on some bikes? I can't say that I'd use it because I don't know, I've never ridden with it. Hell, one of my bikes still has carburetors.

As for spinning the rear wheel on your bike, the TC shouldn't prevent that if it functions anything like the MotoGP stuff I've been reading about. I believe it is coded/mapped so that how much the TC does is a function of the rider input i.e. if you "whack the throttle," the brain should be smart enough to know you want to spin it vs if you have the throttle at a constant position and the rear wheel RPMs climb at above a certain rate, the TC kicks in

I hope I'm making sense. I think TC is a good option but I agree with the big brother statement, it shouldn't be mandatory.

I would think alot of the feedback and computer stuff might already be there to accomplish the "fly by wire" control and logic. If you add to that, the gixxers are coming with an "engine management system" i.e. the ability for the rider to choose the engine setting to match road conditions, one of these bikes will be coming stock with TC in 2008.

if it is selectable I would be all for it. but if its all or nothing I would buy another bike.

The TC on the Motogp bike, from what I have read, is selectable(no kidding ) And from the bikes I have seen(cycle shows) have muli switch to choose the map and tc off/on.

That is as far as my knowledge goes on the GP bikes. Now my own will have 2 maps wet/dry and TC off/on. i have a very light flywheel and some people like think it will spin up all crazy.... piff

Are you seriously going to code this? God, I hope not. That ECU will run like balls. If you think 3 lines of code is all that's in a (functioning) TC system, you're nuts.

If you apply the laws of supply and demand to people…………………we are worthless. I think it’s about time to let the supply reduce themselves. The ones that are left will lead happier lives and hopefully reproduce.

If some jackass spends $65K on a bike and then goes out and high sides himself too the moon the first day he has it it will make for a great thread. Do you want to give that up?
