This guy claims there are only 871 on the clock..yet the chicken stripes look like mine i-e as thin as they can be after street only riding on a 190..

I don't feel so bad then - my street only 999 with a 190 has a stripe on it. And it looks about where my street R1 with a 180 would've had no stripe.

Edit: I did get a laugh though at reading the actual posting

Pirelli's don't count do they?? Seems like it would take more than your average lean angle to get rid of the stripes on those tires given their shape. But with that said, he's done a pretty good job considering they are Pirelli's. Any other tire and there would be no stripe there. Maybe it was a great 871 miles...what's your point??

It only takes one track day session (maybe 30 miles) to put that look on a set of tires.

Edit: Nevermind. Those tires still have nubs on them.

I have seen the Red Label Moto's website in the past. The guy is motorcycle dealer/collector? Take a look at his website and see how he stores his bikes.

Well I sure hope 871 miles is enough to scrub the tire down to a 1 inch chicken strip

Red Label always has some nice bikes floating around

When I bought my 999s off the original owner (a collector) it still had big-ass virgin chicken strips on the OEM tires (with plenty of wear in the middle). One good 80 mile romp in the canyons and they were reduced to less than a quarter inch on each side. I don't see what the problem is.

Couple answers:

1. The ad states that the owner had an identical 998...maybe...he swapped tires and wheels?
OR

2.

Looks clean.. On my 999S with now 2k miles on it I still have that 1inch chicken strip on both sides. Those damn 190's are extremely hard to get completely over. I also admit I've never had this bike on the track and I don't get that kamakazi on the local roads.. But I can't imagine buying a bike like a Ducati and not riding it. I total my 04 999 out in May (almost 6k miles on it) and got my 999S in the middle of July with 0 miles on it and put 2k on before storing it end of October.

190's are not hard to get completely over...190's mounted on a 5.5" wheel are hard to get over!!! Still, what was the original point??
