I've seen well sorted 05 916s go for as high as 8K. As Cheech alluded to, the 95 escaped the rocker demons and was the first of the celebrated body style to come over here. As he further stated, the electricals need upgrading, the cush drive bolts can back out and the flywheel nut can too. Personally, the only issue I've had on my 916 was the rectifier going out. Last valve inspect at 6K miles was all valves were in spec with no sign of rocker wear. On the other hand, a buddy of mine with a 98 916 has had the rockers go south and the cush drive bolts back out alongwith a couple other issues.
Ducatis were born to be raced, so buying a former racer that hasn't been thrown around is OK as long as the mechanicals check out.
