I'm assuming that he gave you the loud can which is for track use only which came with the bike since he has swapped for a full system? If not ignore the rest of this post.

If yes, then the can will be substantially louder than the lawnmower sound you get with the stock cans. If you get it re-mapped with a Power Commander you might see another 2-4 bhp at the wheel and get slightly better throttle response. It should also be a few lbs lighter too.

If you don't get it re-mapped, you will probably lose a bit of midrange power.

Stock Termi??? No bikes comes stock with a Termi on it first off. Also, only the "S" bikes come with the Termi 1/2 system, not the "R's". Even then, they don't come on the bike. They come extra in a box that you (or the dealer) has to install after the fact. If it is in fact the stock muffler that came on the bike when he bought it, it's just a plain old stock muffler and it's identical to the one you already have.

The stock vs the Termi are different in appearance also. The Termi will have "FOR RACING USE ONLY" stamped on the bottom of it. The openings are much, much larger than the stocker and very noticeable. You can also see completely through a Termi. Does the one he's giving you have a carbon fiber heat shield?? Should be included also???

Sorry if I'm headed down the wrong road but your questions seemed odd.

Default Toast anyone?

Don't forget the CAT that's inside of the "R" stock muffler as well!

That little bastard gets hot!

Thanks Dave.

STi749, in that case if he is in fact giving you his Termi muffler, then yes it will fit and that's the way you want to go. Make sure he's including the heat shield as the stock one on your bike wont fit the Termi muffler. Something to look at that Hyperpasta alluded to, by changing the muffler you have now removed the catalytic converter for the verticle cylinder. There's still a cat in the pipe itself for the horizontal cyl. I think the jury is still out as to wether or not this really affects anything by leaving that in the pipe, but I personally couldn't live with it. It would drive me bonkers knowing it was still there.

So the Xerox comes with 2 termi's? one for race only and one for street? How does the sound on termi(street) compare to my stock 749 mufller?is there a big diff. or just about the same sound?

Sorry for the confusion- I thought you understood that some of the 999S and R models came with 2 end cans.

The End can which comes fitted to any 749/999 is the same- heavy, hot and sounds like muffled flatulence.

Some of the 999S models and 999R models also come with a Termi end can marked "for Race use only". These are not fitted with the bike (unless some clever dick got excited and used a bit of initiative)- the owner has the option of putting it on if he desires. It was this end can I thought you were referring to because anyone changing to a full system will not need this end can (or the stock end can anymore).

If he is offering the Termi end can, take it. If not you're getting what you already have.

Nice friend. I wish my friends would give me a Termi Exhaust!

Watchout for heat issues.

I thought the exhaust on all models was the same in "stock" form. Only the 999S came with a half system that the customer had to install. Termi does make the stock system. The cats are in the can for the rear cylinder and under the oil pan for the front.

I have an idea. Look at both mufflers, if the one he is giving you has the same size tips as the existing muffler on your bike, then you don't want it. Not that tough.
