Question Easy One - 999 Deep Sump Drain Plug Torque

Alright, I just emptied the life blood from my 05 999 (deep sump) and I'm about ready to put the drain plug back in. The book calls for 42Nm and that seems awfully high - especially since it mashed the hell out of my crush washer which was aluminum and it could've been from the place that did my 600 mile service.

I found some other sources here that say 15ft/lbs which is about 20Nm and my desmotimes book calls for an even lower value of 10Nm for the Deep Sump (42Nm for the Non-Deep Sump)

Thoughts?

Edit - the oil plug is listed at 22mm which is .866". There is a listing for a lower sump plug that's a 12mm and the torque is 20Nm which seems more plausible since the bolt is closer to a .500" than it is to .866" so I think I answered my own question.

I will check my manual in the morning. The manual is out in the shop and I am scared of the dark.

20Nm. Personally, I stop at 17Nm, though.

I tried 20Nm once and not only did that amount of torque squash the washer it also seemed to deposit tiny amounts of aluminium on the drain plug threads.

That made me think I was about to ruin the engine casing threads so I drilled a hole in the drain plug and combined a lower torque with safety wiring instead.

Default Lower oil sump drain plug torque

The scaries are all gone now.

My shop manual for 2004 999r says = 20 NM or 14.75 ftlbs for the "Lower oil sump drain plug".
