Default Metal Fuel Tank Fittings...WTF

Alright guys, I recently purchased a set of the Metal fuel tank quick disconnects (2 male and 2 Female). I had the tank off yesterday to replace the fittings on the fuel lines , and the plastic stock fittings are solid pieces on the fuel lines. The fuel line has a solid inner core formed directly into the fittings and then have a rubber line on the outside that is for chaffing protection. Has anyone replaced these fittings before? I'm an extremely knowledgeable mech. but am not really crazy about hacking off the plastic fittings and just clamping the metal ones in their place. What is everyone else doing out there? Thanks in advance.

I'd like an answer to this one too, as I was thinking of getting a set. They seem a much better idea than the fragile plastic ones that are fitted as standard.
Surely someone here has fitted them.

Are you sure?

I've replaced loads of fuel lines and the fittings always just pull out the original lines.

He is right. My 998 has this set up and the first time I took the tank off I thought they forgot to put hose clamps on the fittings. The inner line is a shrink fit to the fitting and so they don't have clamps. I think the only way out it to scrap all the original lines and buy fuel injection rated fuel line and proper clamps.

Remove QD. (May be difficult)
Install new hose clamp. (Do not tighten)
Install New QD.
Move hose clamp near end of tube, and tighten.

I put a set on last night, but I also replaced the fuel hoses because I'm setting the bike up to run high fuel pressures. I learn the hard way on mine.

I feel your pain. I gave up and got fuel injector hose of the same inner diameter and some hose clamps. No problems yet.
