Default WANTED: 05 749R Race Bodywork

Hi Folks:

The good people at Sharkskinz have managed to completely blow past -- by several weeks -- their promise of getting bodywork to me for my '05 749R. It now looks like they won't have it even produced, let alone delivered, by my departure date for Daytona of Feb. 28. I guess I should know better -- it's always the same thing with this company.

Anyway, I'm now desperately seeking a set of race bodywork for my '05 749R. If anyone know of any available anywhere, please let me know ASAP. The standard 749/999 race bodywork (at least the lower) won't fit, by the way.

E-mail me direct at info@woundedduc.com

I've got the 2003-4 bodywork on our 749R and it fits okay although I had to use the 2003 fairing stay. Mind you I'm still waiting for my race exhaust. What is it that doesn't fit?

The 05 fairing offers better aerodynamics than the 03 one but the 03 is better than nothing.

You can't just zip-tie some white plastic plates to that thing??

Don't know -- something with the lower, I assume, as that's the different part number with Sharkskinz. But the point is, I need raceglass *now*, not in two weeks from now when Sharkskinz finally gets around to producing some. What year it is really doesn't matter, as it's not going to get here in time either way.

You're absolutely spot-on -- what was I thinking? Besides, I've got some wanker tuning the thing -- it probably won't run more than a couple of laps anyway . . .

I hope you run yours in properly- Our big-end bearing for the lower cylinder just seized after just 500km (300 miles) and needs a total re-build. Not encouraging at all. All the I4 guys are saying,"Told you so." .

Anyone else have this issue?

Hey Mark, two questions. Are you going to paint it "Limon", and may I "borrow" some electricity at Kershaw ?

Hmmmm, let's see, Carolina Motorsports Park is about 2.5 miles in length, two classes, eight lap races, practice day, let's call it 100 miles. The new track at Daytona is 3 miles and change, four races, six laps each, no practice day and one practice session each morning, about 120 miles. Hey, 220 miles, I might just make it!

Normally, we'd tear a new Ducati motor apart prior to heading to the track, but there just wasn't enough time to allow that this year. We'll have plenty of break-in miles on the dyno by the time we get the thing mapped, so while we'll be taking it apart after Daytona, hopefully we won't actually *have* to take it apart.

That's House of Color Neon Yellow, my friend. Kershaw actually has several electrical boxes scattered throughout the pits, so -- if you can keep everyone else from running 20 other extension cords from the same box -- you should be good to go.

What kind of bodywork did you end up with? I have an '05 749R, and I'm in need of bodywork for track days. Thanks.

Sharkskinz. Jason at Super 8 Sectionbikes (sorry Jason, I just can't help it! ) helped me out on short notice. Give him a shout -- they usually have a couple sets in stock.
