They tested it. I saw it with my own eyes.
Its good.
I can run the bike for 20 minutes and shut it off for 2 minutes and it wont start.
Meter on dash says 11.7 or 11.5.
But when Im ridin it says 12.2.
Battery good and all connections the same.
FARK!
Im too new to this Ducati bullshit.

BusaBaby!

The 11.7 or 11.5 is weak with the battery in a static state. It should read 12.8-13.4 or so. The with the motor running and the charging system charging!, you shoud see anywhere from 13.2 to 14.4 volts flow through the battery!

Your Battery is weak!, and the bike isn't charging as it should!

Time to find a new "They" for whatever "They" are worth!

Mine runs 14.3-14.4 when running & 11.9 -12.4 when shut off.I think it is more than your battery.

Got a 05 GSXR 1k coming also.

Still got my Monster S4... I'll never sell it. I've put almost 10K on the S4 and over half have been on the track and love it. It has been rock solid.

...and Art has seen some of those track miles.

No beef against Busamouse or his decision, but I guess I'll never understand the need for the "converted" to want to continue to hang-out over here with us Duc loving idiots.

I'm probably just senile. I'm sure it makes sense to the "fold" .....but am I alone with this confusion?

Easy one, BaldMouse... He just wants to stick around long enough to:

#1: Sell the unreliable Ducati to someone who just loves them

&

#2: Post pics of his brand new 2005 GSXR-1000

pretty sure Japanese bikes still use batteries too... I will bet that is the weak link

Meantime why not post those web site addresses you must have bookmarked for all the GSXR/ZX/CBR/YZF web forums.. you do post there too right ?

suzukis aint no better than ducatis, trust me. my battery on my 999 took a while to keep it's charge,i dont know why but after maybe about 500 miles it kept it's charge, never had any problems with the ducati's battery since,go easy on your new suzuki's transmission and enjoy it cause they sure dont last very long.

Maybe I've missed some long history here, but you have a bike that won't charge the battery and, apparently, a shop that doesn't know what to do except hook up a charger and hope the problem goes away. That's enough to drive you to sell the bike? If that's the worst problem you ever have, many of us would consider you lucky.

It's probably something simple. I suppose the alternator could go bad but it doesn't seem likely - it would be easy to swap parts and see. It would also be easy to check if there's a lot of current flowing through a short somewhere. Beyond that, the system is pretty simple and no different from other bikes - you have an alternator, some wires, a voltage regulator, and some more wires running to the battery. Find another shop to fix it - you'll have to anyway, unless you want to try to sell a "problem bike" as-is.

If all else fails, do a search I recall reading about this in a thread last year.
