to do it properly you need a mathesis or some other software to do a tps reset, which tells the ecu 'this voltage = the default degree setting'.
if you close the throttle fully and read the voltage across the pins that give the tracking, add 100mv for a 999 or 65 for a 749 (100 for 749r) and that's your idle throttle blade setting.
from what jason has told me it appears the usa got the nominally '999' throtlte bodies. all the bikes we've checked have been consistant with having what i would expect are nominally '749' throttle bodies. they are physically the same part, but have a different p.n., which i assume is due to the base setting being different.
i can email you the procedure we use, but it involves the mathesis. we would use it to hook directly into the tps too, so i have no idea about which pins, etc, anyway.
