Default 999-Differences between US&Euro? Powercommander maps.

Looking through the Powercommander maps http://www.powercommander.com/714-411.shtml
I am curious what the difference between a US and European spec model are?
What keeps me from running a Euro map?
How about an S map on a standard?
Thanks!

euro-spec bikes have different stock settings on thier ECU's (fuel maps). dunno personally about the current bikes but the 998 for example came with an ecu that's got the "ducati performance" map for slip-ons here in the US. so they get a richer setup out of the box from different emmissions standards. this means that the table used to tweek the euro-spec setup starts with a different set of baseline settings than what would work in the US.

Thanks strati.
So then using a european map is not recommended.
How about an 999S map on a standard 999?

What setup are you running? My 999 has the 54mm full system with a PCIII. It is being tuned at the shop this week. I will get a copy of the map when I pick the bike up.

well the S has the hotter cams so i'd imagine it's got a fairly different stock map as well to account for the different cam profiles. i've got dyno data from a stock 999 and a stock 999S and the standard mapping (by reading the air/fuel line) looks a lot better on the 999S. dunno if they use the same map and it just works better with the S-cams or what but the 999 at wide open throttle looks absurdly rich in the midrange from the factory.
if you'd like, kick me an email and i'll email you a copy of the PCIII map for the 999 i had made. it's for the modified muffler + header (no cats) but may be a good starting point for you.

2003 999 with full 54mm SIL Exhaust.

I have Mark from the ducshop sending me a map, they are putting one of the SIL's on a 2003 999 this weekend. It worked perfect, I just bought the exhaust through him and he is going to email me the map.

negativegs and s4strati: I will take you both up on emailing me the maps. I have a couple free hours on the dyno and would really like to see as many applicable maps as possible. I am just learning the powercommander routine, but it is surprisingly simple. After dyno tuning and creating maps with ECUEDIT, the powercommander is cheese!

strati This is the stock 45mm exhaust that you have modified? The map you give your customers?

negativegs What brand is your system?

Thanks in advance to both of you!

Termi 54mm full. I hopefully should have my bike back this coming weekend. I'll email you the map when I get it.

correct. map for modified stock system. negativegs' map will prolly be a lot better depending on if it was built on top of the DP ecu that comes with the termi kit or if it was built on top of the stock ecu's mapping. email me and i'll reply with my map: stratihatzi@yahoo.com
