Default Ian748L's bike project

I figured I'll post the work I'm doing for Ian while he's gone... This way he knows how his baby is coming along.

Sorry for the bad pic's

You can't really see it but his 10 spoke mag wheels are missing.... Now where could they have gone???? oh ya... I stole them and put them on my race bike

This what I have done so far.
-Mounted the ECU in the nose section of the bike
-Made a wire harness.
-Installed NOLOGY plug wires.
-Installed BMC air filters.
-Custom battery box.
-Custom radiator and oil cooler guard.

More to come soon

Good to see you are taking care of things while I am gone. Now when is she going to be running? As for the wires, I purchased them from LT Snyder(Desmotimes) a few weeks ago. They might not be specifically for motorcycle's but if LT says they work, I'll believe him. I don't know much about them but they sound a lot better than the stock ones. Keep up the good work and I hope your race goes well next weekend.

Not to throw a wrench in anyones progress, but when the plug wires were installed, did you have to adjust the cam timing?. In LT Snyders manual, he recommends not to run those Nology wires. Just curious as I was thninking about running those wires on my Monster..

I've always heard that the Nology wires were bad. I actually had a set on my old Honda 500 Interceptor, and within 6mos I had to replace both of my coils. I then dyno tested with and without them, and lost HP (2.7) with them on. I threw them in the trash when I got home. ChrisK says on his site not to run the Nology stuff, but that's primarily on the 2-valve stuff.

All very interesting. My theory was that they were just of a higher quality metal providing a slightly stronger spark like due to less resistance like I have seen in some automobile applications. I am running them on a high compression race engine and figured they might be better than stock at least thats how they are advertised. Maybe they won't do anything. I am willing to give them a try. Can't hurt and I got them at a good price used from LT so I am not too concerned either way. I was wondering how they would actually cause you to lose power though. Anybody got a theory on why that would happen? I will give them a try and post the results.

Today's updates. I machined the stator cover, (so the small stator will bolt down) replaced all the broken stuff, slapped it together and cranked her over. I didn't start because it was 12:30am and it time for a beer or two.... three... four... you get the picture.

As for the cam timing, I haven't touch it... and I'm not to worried about the coils frying because I have an extra set.... and it's not my bike

If all goes well tomorrow I'll start on making the Air box... I take that back, I want to make some modifications to my mold first... I'm starting to see some flaws in my prototype air box
