Default 998S on Ebay...

For those in Europe there is perhaps a good deal to do on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAP...&rd=1

The owner is a Prince of Dubai going back home (he is also selling a MV Agusta and some Mercedes ).

The bike is sold with magnesium wheels and a extra full fairing/tank !!!

It is strange that the item is posted on Ebay France because motorcycles are limited to 100 HP by the law in this country (this is only when you buy the motorcycle ) and this 999S is an "full" version.

I was just wondering what was this bike used for during 2600 kms and what could be the consequences for the engine...Can a so beautiful bike be definitivly damaged by inadequate driving during 2600 kms?

IMHO, price can be fairly dropped ...

I never said that they could shoot photos at my house in Monaco.

Monaco isn't France as far as I know it is it's own "Principalite"....but then again I can't spell Principalite so why would you listen to me.

That's $19,275 or so. But I would wonder how much the shipping would be from Monacco to France (or where ever). I don't know what the prices are in Europe, but it seems like you could find a new one here for about that price.

I my opionion it is not a bad price at all. I looked at the site and speak a little french. The bike first of all is a 988s and comes with the original body work, brakes, rotors, wheels and tires extra. Also comes with a chip, pipes, alarm system, on board lap timer and looks like all the original stuff that comes extra has been replace with high performance sutff that is currently on the bike.

It appears that for 14.500 euro (about 19 grand here) you get a whole lot of bike with a whole lot of extras.

You could by this bike like it is ship it to the US, sell all the extra parts to pay for the shipping and still make money. You would come away with one hell of a nice bike for 19 thousand. It would cost you more than that to build up here.

I hope vfr31 will reply and tell me how my translation was.

You could by a 998R for that price plus shipping here and you will still have to deal with trying to import an Euro version bike which can be painful depending on what state your in.

true that ian748l, but still not a completly bad deal depending where you live.

Still that also depends on my personel translation which could be completely off base in the first place. That's just what I gleamed out of the posting on eBay in french.

I dont know how a 998 is limited but the French 996bp were revlimited to 7700RPM (100hp) but the shop always give you the original chip to get full power. I guess that it just has a DP ECU fitted and problems are out of the world.

Default Re: (road rash 2)

Your translation is correct Road Rash ! The bike has a lot of extras which can be sold more than 2500-3000 euros...
Monaco is between France and Italy (it is a town), not far from where I live, so the shipping would be very low
This is not a standart 998 but a "S". In France, 998 are overpriced (more expensive than 999 for instance) because they have no rocker problems and the first serie of 999 (02=>04) are considered as not reliable enough (but the new 999 05 , fortunatly, seems to be a success). I was surprised by the low prices of the 998 on the classified section.Prices in US are much lower than in Europ.
concerning the bike on Ebay, this is the lowest price I have seen for this bike (you sell the extras and get it for 11500-12000 euros!). But I would not buy it because I am not able to see if it has been ridden in a correct way or not...
I don' think it is interesting to import it overseas but for Europeans it could be a god bargain...

I thought all the "S" bikes came with Ohlins front end, but I've been wrong many times before. Anyone 'know' if Ohlins forks were standard on the 998S?

No, the 998S has Showa forks (only the Final Edition -FE- has Ohlins forks, in Europe at least).

The 998S has a Ohlins steering dumper (Boge for the standart bike).
