Default What could possiblely go wrong?

What would be the worst thing to happen to my 999s if I removed and discarded the air runner covers and left the snorkles exposed? Assuming I don't drop my ice cream in there. Aren't they really just cosmetic?

I don't have a 999, but if you mean the screens at the front of the air runners... I take mine off and have no problems on the 998. I check the filters a little more often just in case something big got in there. But the BMC filters haven’t failed me yet. I think the 999 screens are similar.

What Mental DID forget to mention, is that if you take those screens off, you may hit a guardrail and be "forced" to buy a 998 FE .

I disagree, jpuck....

I’m quite sure there were evil squirrels waiting alongside the road using the guardrail as cover. When they knew I was at the point of no return, they ran toward my front wheel like a wave of brown fur, tangling their little bodies in my spokes. Once enough of them got mashed in there, the spokes couldn’t take to stress.

You’ve seen the pictures... are the front spokes broken or not.

I rest my case.

I’m missing a hunk of femur from that crash and I’ll bet those evil vermin are setting in their cave gnawing on that piece of bone right now....

...the little bastards.

whoops! didn't mean to get off topic but,I like the fact that those screens ( 996 anyways ) block the larger road debris. Keep'em clean and they may not be tooo restrictive.

Oops! I may called what I was talking about by the wrong name. I talking about the two pieces of black plastic that attatch to the side fairings that fit up against the gas tank on each side. On the R bikes they are all one piece CF. Motowheels sells CF versions. The thing is I bought a set of the race CF "snorkels". I think the plastic covers are chessy and want to just leave them off. Any harm?

Yeah great you expect me to read that! Looks like either 38 Dx/39 Bx or 5Dx 30 Bx

I'm sure your momma told you to eat your carrots.

Here...

Now.... someone who actually has a 999 can see what you're talking about.

Pull the screen in the cowling if you so desire.
At the air box are another set of screens. The airfilters!
Nothing is going to get past them! Your 999s will thank you for it.

i understand which parts you're referring to and nope, there's no harm in leaving them off so long as the fairings are still secure.
