Pirelli Dragon Super Corsa tires are very light... the front tire alone is a good 1.5lbs off the Michelin Pilot Race H2 from what I’ve read. Pirelli advertises them as “Extreme racing tires optimized for the road.” We all know about the great plus side of using light weight wheels. And, we've talked about the weight savings from a tire would being an even greater improvement... especially coupled with the light wheels
Is that a tire you guys would run on the road or will it last about 1000 miles and be toast?
You will heatcycle the crap out of it.
Get the Diablo Corsa.
Run them at 34 front and 36 rear psi. Enjoy them for the next 4000 miles, They are almost as light, Great for daliy riding and weekend trackdays.
They are also the first motorcycle tire made from robots, 9 of them. They run the 0* belt as the super corsa tire, They will not come from the factory out of round like most tires..
Re: Pirelli Dragon Super Corsa tires on the street? (Mental998)
I have them on my 900, great combo with Marvic Mags. I got a little more out of them but not enough to go back. I really like them but to be honest, I like the Diablo Corsas on my 916 equally. I think though with SBK power they will melt pretty fast compared to my experience at the track with them on the 900. I lost some traction on a couple of higher rev downshifts, no big deal, on sweeping or tight turns they stuck super well. I felt very confident on them, so much so I pushed the bike to pass other bikes in the turns without a hitch. I guess it depends on your riding style, track days, that sort of thing. You might want to ask 750 sport over at Ducati.ms the longivity question, hes an ex Pirelli man.
The Supercorsas now need replacement so I ordered up some Pilot Powers for a change of pace from DTMAonline and I just found out they had an internal/civil theft problem over the holidays. Looks like I'm out over 200 bucks because I paid by money order. This is the second time in 6 months I've been ripped by an internet company.

lesson 1 - never pay by money order unless there is some local there who is willing to straighten it out for you, AND if they have legit feedback (from a forum or ebay or whatever).
Re: Pirelli Dragon Super Corsa tires on the street? (Mental998)
I ran em on my 998 and loved em !! Wear was down on (various) street/sport tires by about 25% or better. Ran/running Diablo Corsa's now and like em a lot. I'd be on the Super Corsa's all the time were it not for the pricing.

Yeah, I know the drill. I took a chance to kept the transaction quiet in terms of my wife finding it on a credit card receipt. Looks like my "secret" deals will be with local vendors only, with the exception of Section8 and Motowheels.
Re: Pirelli Dragon Super Corsa tires on the street? (Mental998)
Ride the regular Diablos on the track...once you see how well they stick you'll realize that you don't need Diablo Corsas or Super Corsas for the street
Re: Pirelli Dragon Super Corsa tires on the street? (nsaneduc)
I’ve ridden the Diablos and was very happy with them. I was kinda’ surprised Pirelli considered the Dragon Super Corsa a tire suitable for every day use. They are about half again as much as the regular Diablo tires. I guess it wouldn’t hurt the pocket book too much to try them once.

Couple reasons for that.
1. Marketing , thus the "DOT" for street use
2. Tire was designed for race classes that require a "DOT" approved tire.
Just picked a pair up at the toronto bike show for $350.00 can. Great price for us.
Carried them around for most of the show and I gotta tell ya, they didn't feel to dam light!!!
All this talk of good deals on tires..
But my local Stealer wont put tires on the bike if i didnt buy them from him...
So for most of us, good deals on tires means how much KY the dealer is going to use when i buy tires from him
Thats crap.....they're in the service industry.
My local Ducati dealer charges me $15 a wheel and thats computer balanced.
It helps I get alot of tires changed but still, I havn't bought a tire from them in years and they know it's because of the price, but they do get my business with alot of other products.
I agree that its crap..but there isnt any choice..they are the only Duc dealer in town and I cant trust anyone else unless I take the wheels off myself and then it shoudl be just as simple as swapping tires on any other bike.
Think I'll get my tires form there in future. Never actually compared tires off the rim for weight, but have liked the Diablos I had in the past, and like the Michelin Pilot Powers I have now
Re: Pirelli Dragon Super Corsa tires on the street? (UKDuc)
I ran the Supers on the track at Summit Point and then "use" them up on the street. I haven't had any probs whatsoever while on the street. Although I'm stuck in the NE part of the country and my duc is currently on the stands with a battery tender hooked up while I look at this summers track day schedule. My
