Default 999 rake angle?

Well here it is another year already and with that a new change to my 999. I brought the neck rake in to the 23.5 degree setting. Being unusually warm here for Jan. , 62 yesterday, I figured what the heck.
Anyway has anyone else done this and what are your thoughts on the different handeling characteristics?
With a generous coating of salt on our roadways here I took it out for a test run and pushed it as much as I felt safe doing considering the road conditions. Wow! I found it really improved the cornering / turn in capabilities of this bike. Although I did find it a little odd feeling at speed. I am hopeing this is something I will get use to, since I have had it at the stock setting for 6200 mi. now. Pushed it to about 146 and much to my surprise it didnt get any head shake as I was concerned about this.

I would appreciate any input you guys have on this matter

HAPPY 05 GUYS

My 999 didn't leave the dealership until the rake was adjusted to the 23.5 setting. I've sat on bikes with the standard rake set up and I could feel the difference just sitting on the bike.

I raced my 999 with both settings and can say that the 23.5º setting was slightly quicker turning but I crashed in that race although I went faster. I flipped it back to the 24.º setting and found it just as good just needing a bit more fore thought. Try them both and see which one you like is my advice.

If you are on a tight track the 23.5 will do just fine. I prefer the longer setting for stability.Just my

Now that's the quote of the decade... Turbo can "feel" the rake just sitting on the bike.

900CR... you must really like the smell of shit, ‘cause you sure try and stir it up all the time.

I keep ignoring your pathetically immature posts in hopes that you’ll go away if nobody plays with you. But, you seem to be living such a valueless life that you have nothing better to waste your time with than coming here in a vein attempt at making yourself feel important.

You hop back and forth from forum to forum, looking for people who will take your side... it rarely happens. You post over and over, but you usually say absolutely nothing constructive... nothing that proves to me that you know anything worth hearing about motorcycles or riding in general.

I’ve seen you jump in on threads in the RC51 forum that sp2pilot has posted in. It’s so obvious that you are an “sp2pilot wannabe” that I feel embarrassed for you when I see it happen.

I don’t know you from Adam , so I have no personal dislike towards you. All I can form an opinion on is what I read here. So far.... I’m not impressed.

You are quickly becoming the guy that seems to infest every forum. You are just sure you’re the most knowledgeable, fastest rider here and you constantly have to sling shit to try and convince the rest of us it’s true.

Congratulations.....

...and no, I’m not going to respond to any of your worthless shit so don’t bother typing.

Jason, There's nothng on that page about rake. Unless following paragraph is it:

1. The first step to do with Showa and Ohlins equipped bikes is to “flip” the steering head around to the fast setting. My thought is that if you can't figure out how to do it, you should not be riding with this set up. Kinda a system of checks and balances.
</TD></TR></TABLE>

So whats the verdict? 23 or 24?

Wow! So this subject has come back again. Well I can now tell you what my experience was with this. I changed to the 23.5 for a while. On the track, especially a technical one with lots of turns . It was way better for me anyway. (Iam not a great track rider by any means)However for street riding I did prefer the 24.5 setting. It also felt different for me because I went to the 190 rear which changed the turn in also. Oh yea also went to diabalo corsas which I think are way better.Anyway
BTW, I put it at 24.5 and kept it there.

I've got my '04 749s set up at the 23.5 setting, and I like it.
This is on the street, BTW.

Default Re: 999 rake angle? (Shazaam!)

Thanks Shazaam.

I guess the thing i get out of this is that 23.30 is cool if you have 27mm offset triple. Which is exactly what Jason keeps saying.

So I'll wait to change it until i get that. I need to do the rest of the bike first anyway (ride height, springs, etc).
