Default will 998/999 cylinders and pistons work on my 748?

just curious I have a new set of cylinders and pistons from a 998/999. I was wondering if they would work on my 1998 748. I want to get a big bore kit for it next year but will these work in it. or is it too big for the cases/head.do I need new cams if they will work?
any suggestions.

dude, put the bong down and step away from your stash.

you can get an 853 kit from many people. you can get an 890 kit from http://www.foxperformanceengines.com (I think that's the address)

there are so many variables related to this that it's not even worth thinking about going to the next-generation engine for parts.

there will be those who read your posting and their heads exploded from all the variables.

do the easy thing - get a kit for about $1200 - $1500 and install it yourself or take it to a shop.

specifically, the cylinder stud spacing is different (bigger) and the cylinder/head face layout is different.

without trying to induce your head to explode, Brad, what about wrist pin to piston crown distance? Isn't there also a difference in stroke between the 748 and the 749/999?

Thanks,
