Dave, If you know anything about the engine let me know as information is really hard to come by. All I know is what the typical specs say. Does it have Titainium rods or what? I have seen 139 hp to 146 hp on the same page, what is it really? These bikes do not come with the race exhaust either so that accounts for a chunk of the price break.
I knew they were hold overs from Europe but I did not know there were no Rs for 2004 offered in the US. Any information you can give me would be very much appreciated. One thing I know for sure is that it is way better than the 03 999 I had as far as the engine and suspension goes. I even like the older fairing with the double holes better than the new one.
I am going to be happy with it no matter what. I loved my 03 999 and I am going to love this one too. See below</TD></TR></TABLE>
Bottom line is your happy

I will hesitate from now on, quoting what I believe the specs "should be" ... ask Mental
Just remember what the bottom of the brochure says, "specs subject to change without notice"
The exhaust you missed out on was not a full race exhaust by any stretch but it was a non catalyzed muffler and header pipe, ECU and carbon cover. The 2005 S model comes with a decent open exhaust and header with ECU in a box in the crate. The HP specs Ducati is quoting for 2005 are now <U>crankshaft</U> measurements not countershaft or rear wheel. This explains the HP increase on most of the 05's.. Your motor should be the exact same spec as the 2003 US R model... the 05 gained some HP but you can pass that with the $7K
