Default 999 speedo problem

Has anyone had problems with the speedo on a 999?
Rode my 03 yesterday and noticed that the reading started to jump around when I accelerated, It would rapidly change beetween road speed and up to 112mph. Every so often it would show three lines. At a constant speed it seems fine.
A couple of times it would also show strange mph figures when hitting the starter button, When this happened the starter motor would not work,Turn key off and on next try the bike will start.
All other functions seem fine, I checked the sensor connections and the plug to the rear of the speedo unit and they seem ok.
As the bike is under warantee I will take it to the dealer for repair but am wondering if this has happend to any one else? If so what was the fix (sender or new speedo/tach)?

The only time you should see the " lines " is above 178mph , dont ask how I know.
Sounds like a warranty issue.

In one top end run that I did, I saw three small lines going sideways and they flashed. It kind of scared the crap out of me because I thought I broke something. lol.

I saw the lines at 171mph. Then I rolled off in panic. (I'm one tooth up in the rear sprocket)

maybe you should check the sensor which reads pulses off the rear brake rotor bolts. If this is loose or the clearance is wrong, or the cable is frayed, the ECU would get bad data and transmit this to the dash.

OK need a bit of help
The ECU that went bad and affected my speedo came with the termi slip on system.
DNA are refusing to warranty it as they say I didn't buy it from a Ducati dealer.
It came in a Ducati box and has ducati stamped all over it.
Anyway the outcome one bad ECU and a bill from the dealer for about 4 hours work (I don't blame the dealer infact they have allways been very good)
As I don't feel like givingducati more money for a new ECU would it be viable to use the stock ECU and fit a power commander mapped for the pipes or is the ignition curve modifyed in the Ducati performance ECU.
Suggestions please
