Default ST4S fairing rubber barrel attachment nuts

I pulled the fairing, left and right side panels off and found a couple of the rubber attachement nuts are in pretty bad shape. I had a spare and tried to push the flared end through the small hole and found it to be nearly impossible? How do you replace these? I tried to push through with a small screwdriver and buggered it up, tore the rubber a bit. I tried pulling through with small needlenose pliers and stretched the rubber shoulder and tore it some more.

How do you thread these guys through the small hole!!

thanks

Hey Texx,

I replaced a few of the wellnuts on my ST4 last year, and I experienced the same issue you are having. A quick spray or silicone lube did the trick...they went right in. The other thing I did was put a tiny dab of never seize on the screws, and they come right out every time I do maintenance, saving the wellnuts.

Good Luck.

WW
