Anyone have a ST3 or 3S?
I'm thinking of adding another Ducati to my stable and I'm looking for something with bags. I guess once you are bit by the Ducati bug..
Wonder has anyone road the new ST3 or ST3s? I simply LOVE my 999S (loved my 999 until I stuffed that under a guard rail). I'm looking for a bike to commute on and for me to take a week or two and cruise the backroads (need something to get my mind off of this divorce). Other than the typical Ducati service intervials anything else?

A friend of mine just put his perfect ST3 up for sale. It is last years model and has about 3,000 miles on it. Bill is 5'6" and his hands go to sleep when he rides it. I think he is looking for $7800. I wish I could afford it right now. I love those bikes.

I have the ST4s and absolutely love it.
It's quirky enough to be true Ducati, unique as well.
Damn best handling touing bike you'll ever straddle.
A great combination of sport and touring.
Not recommended for parade duty.

This one sounds good. The 06's have had some ECU issues that I'm not sure have been sorted out yet. If this one is an 05 then snap it up. Sounds like a good deal. IIRC they were about $12K new. I have an ST4s and love it. Contrary to some claims though, my bags will not fit my full face HJC helmet.

+1 to what Mike posted.
If you crave horsepower, the 4s can fill your needs...
My XL Arai fits in the saddlebags, but I have to hold my tongue a certain way or it won't go in...

I have an ST3 for about 1 1/2 years now, 16K miles. I use it for longer trips >500 miles and use my Monster for shorter trips and track days. I found the stock risers not to my liking, I have a 32" sleeve length. So I put on the cycle cat risers, awesome! I first tried a Corbin seat because of the passenger backrest, when that seat did not break-in after 10K miles I switched to a Sargent and got the top case with Passenger backrest. I just did 2 trips with them on, one to Road America ~2k miles and last weekend 2up to Mid-ohio ~1k miles, both of the additions are worth the money IMHO. I also added the DP performance pipe, air box, and ECU - this woke it up in the 4-6K RPM range. I have not had any trouble, bike runs flawless and will carve through the mountains almost as well as my Monster -in fact I got some fast laps at Mid-ohio last weekend and the bike handled the track very well, although I would imagine that the Ohlins gold suspension would be even better. The bike likes to run, 5th and 6th gear will defintely get you a speeding ticket. Maintenance interval is every 6K which I think is reasonable. The Pilot Roads lasted about 10K miles, the chain and sprockets 14K(with very few adjustments in between) and I ride it pretty hard. The only issue with it as a commuter is the clutch, Getting ready to order an Evoluzine-sp? slave cylinder whihc has been a great improvement on my Monster. If you have a good dealer in your area buy one, you won't regret it.

Guess I'll check again then! Thanks! Mine's the new AC-12 Carbon...don't know if that's bigger or not. I'll try experimenting with holding my tongue in different positions I guess too.

In August of 05 I picked up a brand new 2005 ST3, by August of 06 it had just shy of 19000 miles...it was a slow year...too many projects not enough riding time. The ST3 is bullet proof....I have beat the crap out of this bike, and it keeps running like a champ. I have no idea why anyone would change out the stock saddle....it is easily a 700 to 1000 mile a day saddle. I'm 5'6'' and found the bike set up perfectly for me. The only thing I have done to this bike was add heated grips (dual stars) and a givi top case. A friend of mine sat on the bike once...and she immediately went out and bought one....another friend of mine...test rode mine (she was gone over 2 hours ) and immediately bought a ST4....I swear ride a Ducati ST 3 or if you can find a 4, you WILL buy it.

Man buy a Multistrada and you'll never regret it...bags comfy and it can carve a corner like no other and to think you could spend all day riding and not get tired well not too tired.

My hands sleep also. Do you thinks it's the risers that Ducati uses that lack adjustibility.
See my thread for the ST3 I'm selling.

ST3s
I have an St3s.I find it not that comfortable on long trips I bought it in July of 06 and rode from Birmingham Alabama to Colorado 2 up.I actually was thinking of renting a van to come home in.I cant put my finger on it but something is just not doing it for me with the thing, but evrytime I think about getting rid of it I do some short runs and change my mind.I also had a ST2 and rode to Laguna from Birmingham and loved it,2 up for that trip also.I dont know if it was the trip itself that made it better or if it was the bike.Anyway for long trips, just my judgement the ST is to much torwards the sport than the tour.Cple of times I was thinking hope I can make it to the next gas station and boy I wish I could just sit up straight for awhile.Still easy on the eyes and I have put the DP pipes and ECU and air box deal since then so maybe another long trip before I make up my mind for sure.I am 5'8 and its alittle long reach for me to the bars and my hands go to sleep also.

grey ST3, staintune exhaust, cheaper than Rick's
Sorry to underbid you Rick!! Actually, isn't my bike, but is FS, low mileage, bags, no issues, scratches or other problems. Think he wants around $7, but don't hold my feet to the fire on the price. i will get you full details if you are interested. bike is in Birmingham, AL, but i could deliver as close as Elkhorn, WI, where i am going in a couple of weeks. delivery will cost you only $150 over seller's price. What a deal, right, Rick?? Stevo.
