Default Clutch Push Rod, Orientation?

Which is the correct orientation of the rod: with the two o-ring end near the slave cylinder, or with the two o-ring end near the pressure plate? The only diagram in the service manual shows it in what appears to be the two o-ring end near the slave cylinder. That would be the opposite way I just found it!

Before I fix something that's not broken... which is the correct way?
