Default Windshield recommendations

I have an '02 ST4S, and it appears that the windblast is hitting me square in the face shield. I'd love to move that blast over my head, but I'm not crazy about the real large sport-touring windscreens. What direction would a ZG double bubble move the airflow for me? btw, I'm 6'3", with 34" inseam, sitting on a corbin, with 1/2" bcm bar risers...

Also, installed my DD headlight this weekend with help from Nick D. on this board. Even though we adjusted the lights a little low, the new light rocks !!!

I too am curious, but may be looking to go the other way. When I stand up little, I much prefer the smooth wind blast. It's clean and quiet (all bugs aside).
Is there a lower shield available somewhere?

Second. I love the look of the DD and am also considering one. But night riding for me is just fine with the stock lights. The low is okay and he high does what I need it to do. Seems to be lots of complaints about the stock unit for some reason.
With either I would not be doing the ton+ at night on the side roads anyway.

Glad you like the light. Was it a difficult task to install?

I don't do an excessive amount of night riding, but when I do, the roads near my house are very dark. I'm surprised that you find the stock lights to be fine - I'm willing to bet the stock light on my '87 Ninja was better! As for the install, it wasn't too bad. I'm not the best mechanic, but my friend made up for that. I'm glad that I got to watch someone remove my upper fairing a couple of weeks ago (BCM), since I hadn't done it myself yet.

The instructions are excellent. The only thing that could be better is the printout that I made of them. I used a laser printer at work, but the pictures didn't come out well. It would have been nice if they had a color set printed with the kit, but not that big a deal. We had the light installed in about 2-2.5 hours, and then had some issues re-mounting the fairing, including dropping a screw down into one of the side fairings , but other than that it wasn't too bad.

Cosmetically, it looks great, and so far I'm happy with the performance. I adjusted the lights up a bit when I got home the other night, but I haven't ridden in the dark again yet to test them out.

I also have the DD lights on my ST4 and my riding friends tell me they can see me much better during the day. While I rarely ride at night I think the improved visibility during the day is another benefit.

BTW: I'm 6'5" and have tried the Laminar Lip (touring model). I wanted to get the air blast off my chest and over my helmet. All it does is direct the blast right into my faceshield, knocking my head around. I tried it for one day and it's off and sitting on the shelf. Anyone want to buy it? It might be good for someone shorter.

The double bubble shield looks to be just a little taller than stock. I have one of those too and might give it a try one of these days.

Trying to turn an ST fairing into a BMW RT fairing is a losing battle. I'd like to get the bugs off my shoulders and faceshield, but unless someone comes out with a giant shield it 'ain't gonna happen.

I have both the DD headlight kit and the ZG-DB on an '03 ST4S so we have the same stock headlight and fairing.
On the shield I am shorter though at 5'10" and the wind noise dropped substantially for me but the bugs are still directed right at the face shield - must be the overall aerodynamics of the fairing. I would almost like to try another 1 or 2 inches of shield height but the +3 looks really nice. It might make wind noise worse at your height.
One thing I did before I bought the new shield and you might want to try - it sounds dumb but I swear it was pretty accurate for estimating. While cruising at 70 I put three fingers on the top of the center of the stock shield at a very slight angle and lowered and raised my head slightly. The lower wind noise sold me.
Out on the prairie where I live it can be a lot of miles between any man-made lights and I can't see how the designers at Ducati could have slept at night after shipping such a wonderful bike with such unsafe lighting. A trip out to the Black Hills last fall was only marred by the tension of being out in the middle of nowhere with all that wildlife around at night with such pathetic lighting. I have had dozens of bikes over 30+ years and never been on one this bad - even my '71 Triumph Tiger had better lights.
The DD's are expensive, not quite as bright as I would like them to be but still the best option by far. Besides, they look good, comes complete with everything to do a professional job and Paul was very nice sending me some extra e-mail shots showing where the loom gets threaded through the frame on the left side.

I was looking at the ZG site last night, and it appears that they don't make the double bubble for our bikes, so you must have the "sport touring" one then?

Yes, you are correct. It's the ST model.

I was thinking about this yesterday too while riding. I slid way up on the seat and sat up as tall as I could and found the quietest pocket of dead air. I think the +3" of the ST shield must be putting the air stream right on the top edge of my face shield. Still way quiter than the stocker.
Maybe at your height you might be in that quiet pocket?
