Default Footpeg Lowering Kit

Has anyone tried these plates from Desmo Times? I didn't think I'd notice an inch but it's very apparent. They claim the pegs won't scrape but I won't be surprised when they hit.

You're in luck! I just installed mine a week or two ago. Here are my observations:

My pipes are currently in the "high" position, and the footpeg just barely touched the pipe on the shifter side. in the "low" position, I'm confident that there would be about 1/2" under the footpeg.

I may need to spend some more time adjusting the rear brake pedal as it is too high with the lowering kit installed. We adjusted it some, but I'm still not 100% pleased with it's location.

As far as riding goes, I haven't noticed any problems with the pegs touching down, although I haven't been riding all that hard either. They claim that with a properly adjusted suspension, the pegs should not touch down, even in fairly aggressive cornering. I don't know about track days though. I wonder if ride height would change this scenario. I plan on raising mine, but haven't gotten around to it. My rear spring was swapped out by BCM for the correct one for my weight.

My pipes are in the lower position and there's no interference. The fit is good however I know what you mean about the rear brake pedal. In my case it's still too high. The problem is with the screw that activates the brake light. It's adjusted about as far out as it can go and that's still not enough. I need a different brake light actuating screw; one that's longer and that has a larger diameter head. But the brake rod is at the end of its travel and I need more. A new pedal lever is the way to go.

If I want to drop the brake lever any more I might have to do some work to the lever itself. That would be the right way to drop the pedal but I don't have a machine shop at my disposal anymore.

Let me know if you come up with a way to drop the pedal another inch or so. I wonder if any brake levers fit the ST from other models?

I'll probably see what BCM has to say when I go to their open house in a few weeks. If you come up with a solution, let me know...

Dan,

you said that you have your exhaust in the "low" position. Do you have your racks on? If not, did you just add a nut to attach the pipes (lower hole on mine isn't threaded)?

I have ARROW slip-ons and there's only one position. What I should have said was that I have the exhaust in the normal position (not raised). I always keep the mounts and the bags on the bike.

If you removed your luggage brackets, you'd have to put them in the "high" position, as the only threaded hole is the "high" one (at least on my version). I tend to do more day riding than trips, so I took the bags off altogether, until I go on another trip. I don't like how the bike looks with just the brackets there, and it's very easy to lose a directional with the bags off.
